inner child
running through fields playing tag you’re it. falling asleep in mom or dads arms just so they carry you to bed. spending hours picking a movie and ending up watching the same ones. screaming, kicking and fighting with your siblings because they’re being mean.thinking the most exciting place in the world is your neighborhood park. running around the masjid with the other kids getting lots of gifts when it’s time for eid. falling asleep during sermons or taraweeh. blushing when anyone calls you pretty or smart or both. grinning from cheek to cheek when you lose your first few teeth. asking your mom to make you that thing you like for the millionth time. going to school just so you can see your best friends.climbing up a tree, or jumping off a fence. learning how to ride a bike. crying when you fall off it the first few times. making sure your dad gets you ice cream afterwards. everything is so small and so big at the same time when you’re young. And then somewhere along the line, you grow up and i hope you don’t lose the fire of your inner child.
